One of the most important lessons I ever learned very early in my career was to never judge anyone’s needs compared to my own. I was taught a very valuable lesson by a lovely older patient who had come in to get her teeth straightened. She was 85 years old and wanted her smile to look nicer than it was already. I will never forget her statement telling me that she had wanted to get it done for 60 years but this is the first time she has been in a position to be able to do it. 6 months later and she really did manage to get the smile she has always wanted.
Technology has come on leaps and bounds over the last 20 years and this is very true and evident within the dental world as well. Who would have dreamt 20 years ago that metal braces were not the only way to straighten teeth and that it wouldn’t necessarily take 18 months to do it. The options available to most people nowadays are endless and irrespective of age too.
The thought of being able to have much straighter and nicer teeth in only 6 months in some cases is such a nice thought for most people and worth considering. The costs have also become a lot more affordable and with all the finance packages and options we have available it shouldn’t be the main reason that stops you considering being ready for your next Christmas or Summer celebrations.
There are few investments that people in life would say were worth every penny but your smile is one of them which our patients never regret for the rest of their life. Every photo taken or every grandchild you have ever smiled at will always remind you exactly why those moments are so precious and treasured forever.
